Would Saif be able to make it to ring in Kareena’s birthday? Speculation was rife that Saif was mostly likely be unable to make it for the special day because he and Kareena were committed to thier respective projects.

Worst, Kareena was shooting at a remote location (Leh) that was way beyond reach. But guess love overcomes all obstacles and a determined Saif did usher in Kareena’s birthday in Kargil.

A close friend of Kareena revealed, “Direct flights to Leh on that day were cancelled because of bad weather. So Saif flew from New Delhi to Srinagar.

He then drove down from Srinagar to Kargil for seven hours at a stretch. Kareena, who was shooting at a remote location, drove down to Kargil too.

Bebo always wanted to go to Kargil to meet the jawans so along with Saifm she went ahead to Kargil to celebrate her birthday with the soldiers there. Bebo was so happy when she reached there. She was really really ecstatic. ”

My film is titled Hhey Gujju and I am playing the lead opposite Himesh Reshammiya. It is a romantic comedy and is being directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Studio 18. My role is that of an NRI girl who comes to India and falls in love with Himesh.

Casting coup
It was sheer luck that I bagged the film. The producers were looking out for someone to play the lead and after seeing my pictures, they called up my agent.

I was informed that I had to meet them urgently. It was already seven in the evening but I still went for the meeting.

The producers just spoke to me for 15 minutes and said that they would revert in a week’s time but before I reached home, I got a call from my agent who said I was selected.

If there’s a contest for the most chilled-out star-in-the-making in Bollywood Imran Khan would probably win hands- down.

Nothing fazes Imran. Not even a road accident.

On Thursday afternoon as he was being driven to the venue of his rehearsals for Abhinay Deo’s Delhi Belly, a speeding vehicle bumped hard into his vehicle from behind damaging Imran’s car’s bumper and scratching the posh paint.

“There was some damage to the car, yes,” admitted Imran. “This happened right in front of Tulip Star hotel. Vehicles came to a standstill and we came down from our cars. I was in a hurry to reach my rehearsals. So we exchanged addresses and I’ll be taking up the matter with him later.”

So did the guy who caused the accident recognize the newest star on the block?

“Nah, he was in too much a hurry and too flustered by what had happened,” says the star in a hurry.

Nowadays Imran’s schedules are so choc-a-bloc he hardly gets time to meet his girlfriend Avantika. Or read scripts.

Veteran Bollywood scriptwriter Salim Khan, the father of actor Salman Khan, Friday questioned a fatwa, religious edict, against him by some Muslim organizations for celebrating Ganeshotsav at their home here.

“What is the locus standi of these people? Who are they to question people’s religious beliefs? Why don’t they issue such a ‘fatwa’ against terrorists and terrorism, which is un-Islamic? The clerics are talking nonsense,” he thundered before a television channel Friday evening.

Mufti Manjar Hassan Khan Ashrafi Misbahi, the chief of Darul-Uloom Hijaziya Chishti, Mumbai, issued the ‘fatwa’ urging a religious boycott of the entire Khan family on Wednesday.

Last week, the Khan family was in the limelight when all members along with friends and relations celebrated the Ganeshotsav festival at their home in Bandra, northwest Mumbai.

The Khans celebrate Ganeshotsav every year, but this time, the live telecast of the family performing ‘aarti’ (invocation) of Lord Ganesh has irked some community leaders. Later, the family took part in a ceremonial immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesh.

The social boycott call was issued in response to a demand by Abdul Rehman Anjaria, member of the Advisory Council, Jama Masjid, New Delhi.

Kangana Ranaut’s first South Indian language film, Dhaam Dhoom (Tamil) opened to packed houses just weeks back.

The action packed thriller with a suspense ending, was almost entirely shot on virgin locations in Russia. Not only is the film being appreciated but so is Kangana’s work in it. South filmmakers impressed by her work have begun offering her big projects with top stars of the South film industry.

One such offer that was made to the Gangster starlet just a few days back has been of Rs. 1 crore plus.

Our source informs, “A prominent Tamil production house has approached Kangana with a highest ever offered price to her till date in her career in the film industry. Their only condition is that she should feature in this action thriller film in a bald state for a few scenes.

Kangana hasn’t given her nod to the role yet. But she is definitely considering giving it a go ahead. Not just for the price, but the role is a very challenging one. It’s a totally different role from what she has been doing in Bollywood till date.

Kangana is known to accepting challenges and one might see her signing on the dotted line soon. Her role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion is based on the Delhi based, infamous model Geetanjali.

For bringing authenticity to her part of looking like a road side beggar addicted to drugs in some portions of the film she went to great lengths.”

Aishwarya Rai has left for Peru to shoot for Enthiram (Robot) along with Rajnikanth. But her heart is in Mumbai with her ailing father who is undergoing chemotherapy.

She was all bent upon ministering to her father but had to leave because of the call of work. “I hardly got enough time to do the things that are really important to me like spend time with my parents, specially my father who’s been very unwell. Barely was I back from The Unforgettable concert that I had to leave. That’s the hard part of being who I am. The show always has to go on,” quips Aishwarya Rai.

For the first time after their divorce in 2005, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston met at a hotel in Toronto. The celeb divorcees arrived at the Hyatt hotel in Toronto just an hour apart and shared a drink in a bar.

“Brad is staying at the Hyatt and Jen went there for dinner. She and two of her pals had a drink afterwards and they joined Brad and chatted amicably for a bit,” The Sun quoted a source, as saying.

The couple called it quits three years ago and Brad started going around with co-star Angelina Jolie. However, speculations are rife that the ‘Troy’ star may still be Friends with Jen, 39.

With six back-to-back hits in her kitty in the last one year, Katrina Kaif is now the reigning queen of Bollywood. But success has not gone to her head and she still believes in doing her chores herself.

“Katrina has not got carried away by her success. She continues to be herself, ” said a source close to the actress.

The source said people were surprised to see the British-born actress carrying her own luggage at an airport even though her chaperones were with her.

“Sandhya, Katrina’s secretary, was with her and though she insisted that she’d carry her luggage Katrina just did not allow her to do so! Katrina said, ‘It is my luggage and I will carry it myself’.

“Katrina usually prefers to do her tasks on her own. Success has not spoilt her at all, ” added the source.

After wowing audiences in the recently released romantic comedy “Singh Is Kinng” opposite Akshay Kumar, Katrina has displaced top-rung actors, including Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra.

Her success story started with “Namastey London” and continued with “Apne”, “Partner”, “Welcome”, “Race” and now “Singh Is Kinng”.

“Katrina has learnt that success and failure are transitory and that one should not get carried away by them. She firmly believes in keeping her head placed on her shoulders, ” said the source.

Sassy item girl Rakhi Sawant had macho star Salman Khan completely stumped when she unexpectedly popped the question - “Marry me!” - during the grand finale of his reality television show “Dus Ka Dum”.

Rakhi also produced a ring after asking Salman to marry her, according to a press statement.

During the finale of the “Nach Baliye 3” dance reality show last year, when Salman was the chief guest, Rakhi had walked away from the sets in a huff.

Rakhi had lost to Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aamir Ali in the show and stormed off the stage with her beau Abhishek Awasthi in tow. Even though Salman followed her to pacify her, she snubbed him and drove off in her car.

Salman was apparently miffed with her after that. But considering that she was invited to his show, Salman seems to have forgiven the controversy queen.

Rakhi was on the show with comedian Shakeel Siddiqui to play the game. Two other celebrities, actors Rani Mukerji and Lara Dutta also graced the show, which will be telecast Sep 14 at 8 p.m. on Sony Entertainment Television.

Salman Khan’s bad health days are far from over yet. Just as he had got recovered from an illness few days back, he is back again in pain!

Salman has now ended up hurting his foot at his home itself. Sources revealed, he was trying to rearrange the furniture in his house post the Ganpati celebrations when he ended up hurting his foot.

Salman is supposed to leave for London to shoot Vipul Shah’s London Dreams next week. He has got a lot of pending work to complete before sets off to London.

But this ill timed injury has completely spiralled all his plans. Salman has been limping and its impossible for him to take part in any shoot. The most affected producer because of this has been Boney Kapoor.

Wanted: Dead And Alive produced by Boney and directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva were awaiting Salman’s arrival on their film’s set for dance number shoot when they heard the news of his leg injury.

Now they are hoping a speedy recovery for their hero so that they can shoot the song for their film before he leaves for London for more than a month!

In Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, Tabu shall be playing a naughty lawyer.

The acclaimed actress has never played a completely over the top sensuous character before and is excited to play the part in this Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny’s Bollywood remake.

Our source informs, “Ravi Chopra managed to convince Tabu in playing a sexy character for his next, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai. When she was first offered the part by him she had declined it.

But after a lot of deliberation, Chopra managed to get the Namesake starlet going in for the role. The role requires Tabu to expose her body. But since the film is a comedy she won’t be presented in a vulgar manner.”

“The same part was earlier offered to Bollywood hotties, Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat and even Sushmita Sen. But they had refused the role calling it too insubstantial. But Tabu has taken up the role as a challenge of attempting something which she has never done before in Bollywood.” the source adds.

Ravi Chopra tells us, “Tabu has signed my film and will be seen playing a lawyer and fights the court case opposite Govinda. It’s a dashing and challenging role.”

Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is an official remake of Oscar winning Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny. The original had Joe Pesci playing a bumbling middle aged lawyer fighting his first case, a murder case, to hilarious consequences.
