There were many options open for Karan Johar to do the sizzling item song – Shut Up and Bounce in his produced Dostana. Many top line actresses were willing to do this number shot in Miami for free for the sake of working under his prestigious banner – Dharma Productions. But Karan zeroed down on Shilpa Shetty. Why you may ask? Well Karan’s reply is, “Because she is the hottest!”

He adds, “We finally zeroed in on Shilpa because she has the best body in town. She has done a fantastic job but credit also goes to choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and music director Vishal Shekhar. Shilpa’s number will be the introductory song along John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.”

Tarun Mansukhani who is making his directorial debut with Dostana too was impressed by Shilpa’s professionalism. He says, “Shilpa was comfortable wearing anything for the song. We were to shoot the song in seven days but completed it in four days flat.”

Shilpa agreed to be a part of Dostana immediately, not only because it was a Karan Johar production but also because it had her favorite team of film crew members such as – Manish Malhotra as the stylist, Mickey Contractor for the make up and Latika for her hair.

The Kapoors and the Bachchans have been thick Bollywood pals for long. Until of course the much publicized Karisma Kapoor – Abhishek Bachchan breakup happened!

Of late there has been news of the family friends getting back together.

But according to fiesty Kareena they are just rumours as nothing of that sort is happening or likely to happen in the future.

She has reportedly said, “The ‘patch-up’ decision cannot be taken individually. This one’s quite complicated, since the two families are involved now. There’s no truth to the news-report about our teaming together. There’s no project on the cards either.”

Apparently she was miffed with Abhishek too as there were rumours of him being responsible for getting her replaced with Priyanka Chopra in Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana’.

Kareena sings another tune altogether and says, “I have moved on. Karan is a brother and he has offered me a far more challenging role in his next film that will be directed by Rensil D’Silva.”

It seems Kareena’s actually not ready to forgive the Bachchans yet.

Abhishek had apparently also extended the olive branch and said that he would love to work with Bebo again as she was his first heroine which makes her very special. But Bebo really seems totally uninterested!

First things first! Will Fashion be your fourth National Award winning film?
What a way to start this interview (laughs). I am really keeping my fingers crossed because some of the people who’ve seen the movie have told me that Fashion is my best work till now.

I believe in making the film and leaving it to the audiences and the critics to decide whether it’ll work or not. I have done a good job and am waiting for 29th October, the Diwali day which is an auspicious day to release any film. Hope it works.

Mr. Ram Gopal Varma said that the only film he is looking forward to after string of flops is Fashion. He also went on to say that the content of Fashion will be pretty interesting. Any comments?
It’s really great, in fact, I just spoke to him this afternoon and he was really looking forward to Fashion. He can’t wait to see the film. He sent me an sms saying that the promos are also looking stunning.

For me personally, it’s really nice because I’ve worked with Mr Varma for couple of years and I’ve learnt a lot from him as far as filmmaking is concerned. He has this gut feeling about movies and when he says that the film will work, it does work.

Did you meet any of the Fashion worlds top models and designers for their advice?
Absolutely yes. I’ve interacted with almost everybody from the Fashion world. From the top of the designers to the top super models, the sponsors, the choreographers, etc.

Former Miss India and Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley couldn’t have asked for more. First she landed a role in Hollywood film “Quest of Sheherzade” and now she will team up with Oscar winner Sean Connery in the international project based on “Arabian Nights”.

“Quest of Sheherzade” is scheduled to go on floors in January and also stars Orlando Bloom of “Pirates Of The Caribbean” fame. It will be directed by Ken Khan, the technical director of fantasy adventure film “Lord of the Rings”.

“Sean Connery is there in the film and recently Orlando Bloom was also signed. I am playing an important character of an Iranian princess, ” Celina told.

“The story is based on Arabian Nights and they are planning to start the shooting from January next year. I am in a contract and can’t talk much about the movie, ” she said.

“Quest of Sheherzade” is not her first international project. Celina plays the lead in New Zealand-Australian venture “Love Has No Language” by the same director.

In “Love Has No Language”, the former Miss India is cast as an Indian girl born and brought up in New Zealand. She is cast opposite Australian actor Ben Mitchell.

“It was very difficult to speak in Kiwi English as they speak in a completely difficult and weird accent. Neither do they speak like Australians nor like the British, ” Celina said.

Arshad Warsi has slowly and steadily craved a niche for himself as a strong supporting actor. Things have been good for him and he has turned producer too.

However recently came the news that his happy home is breaking down. There were talks about him and his wife of many years Maria Gorreti splitting up!

But now Arshad is strongly denying the same. He admits that Maria is upset and has every right to be.

Maria was apparently unhappy because Arshad wasn’t giving the family enough time. Quite understandable since Arshad is always busy shooting and currently with his home production ‘Kaun Bola’ formerly titled ‘I Believe In Angels’!

He’s reportedly said, “She’s right. But sometimes an actor’s life is like that. I’m shooting for films; we’re busy with our home production. But again that’s no excuse. Maria has been an integral part of our first production venture, and has been the pillar of the family. I’d be stupid to lose her.”

He’s added, “Maria is my ‘complete woman’. Her values, ethics, principles remain unmatched. Fights happen, every couple fights, but I’m waiting to get home and make things right. In ‘Golmaal Returns’, I have Saif’s name tattooed on my chest, but if I were to get a real tattoo done, it would read Zeke and Zene (his children)!”

Arshad hopes to be a changed man now and also says that there isn’t enough time for a private guy like him to nurture bonds and friendships on sets. Simply because actors like him find it difficult to do justice to their already existing family and friends that making new ones becomes a problem.

It seems this guy is pretty serious about the patch up idea! This could very well do the trick for him!

Vidya Balan might look really odd with young heroes like Shahid Kapur but she continues to bag biggie films with a period feel or where the heroine is supposed to look Indian. And yeah, what she’s best suited to – matured heroes!

She’s starring with Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ‘Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhya Woh Jamiya Nahin.’

Thankfully she’ll be playing Sanjay Dutt’s wife in the film and isn’t the romantic interest of youngster Neil Nitin Mukesh who’s the third lead!

The movie will be shot in India because according to director Santoshi shooting in Lahore is impractical as the crew mightn’t get the architecture of the partition times any more.

So art designer, Nitish Roy is building Lahore in Hyderabad now. Every lane, by-line, the transportation; the electric wires will be recreated. Extensive research on Lahore during the Partition era is done so that every detail is replicated.

Santoshi calls it a challenge as it is his second pre-Independence film after ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh where he’ll combine drama and fiction into history.

With films like this one and ‘Chenab Gandhi’, Vidya’s days in Bollywood are still not numbered!

Akshay Kumar is going bigger by the day!

Most of his movies have hit the bulls eye and his market price has shot up. He’s also got the new title of King Kumar!

Never mind the fact that most of his movies have been senseless fares and he has just got plain lucky with so many of them raking in the moolah!

The result of it all is that Akki can have anything and everything he wants. He had reportedly long wanted a house in Bandra and is all set to make his dreams come true.

The actor will shift to his new plush 4k square feet duplex in Bandra soon which has cost him a whopping Rs 8.5 crore! It is located near Turner Road, overlooking the Guru Nanak Park.

The news is that the superstar is hell bent on growing his property. He already owns property in Lohandwala, a beach house in Goa and probably in Mauritius too, where he often holidays!

Talk about leading a royal life! Some people really have it all!

Two films are clashing this Friday, the 24th Oct.2008. They are ‘Roadside Romeo’, an animated film and ‘Heroes’. Let us see the pros and cons of both the films.

Two big factors speak about the movie. Firstly, Walt Disney for the first the time has stepped into the Indian soil and with joint collaboration with the Yash Raj’s made an animated movie naming it ‘Roadside Romeo’. Secondly, the hottest couples of the Bollywood Industry have lend their voice to this film. They are none other than Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Now do we need to speak more about the movie. The factors have already started speaking their mouth.

The only factor which can prove vital for this movie is that it is an animation film. It should be noted that the two superstars are not physically acting in this film but have only lent their voice.

Everyone in India knows what they want to see. The crowd is used to seeing the action of Akshay Kumar, the crying and sobbing scenes of Shah Rukh and Shirt-off by the shirt-off genius Salman Khan.

An animation film only appeals to children who drag their parents along to the theatre.

It should be noted that only ‘Hanuman’ proved itself and was able to enter the box-office. This film certainly has all the drama of a typical Indian film (a hero, a heroine, friends, a villain, fights, romance, etc.) in form of animated figures.

Shiney Ahuja can’t get along with his female co-stars. Well it seems just so!

First Kangana Ranaut made it clear that she and Shiney aren’t exactly on good terms. Then during the making of ‘Metro’, there was news about Shiney throwing tantrums and exhibiting childish behaviour when Shilpa Shetty happened to praise her other co –star Kay Kay Menon more than him!

Later Shiney dismissed it as a wrong piece of news but we aren’t sure if we want to believe him.

Especially now since the well behaved and straightforward dame of B-Town Preity Zinta too has to say a few negative things about him!

They sure are not warm words and it seems things weren’t exactly warm between the two actors on the sets of ‘Har Pall’.

Preity has reportedly said, “Shiney and I aren’t the best of friends! He’s not exactly a Shah Rukh, Salman, Hrithik or Abhishek for me.

I’ve worked in so many films with these guys, and we share such camaraderie that it’s not unusual that I drop into their homes, chat up with their wives… Well, I don’t share that relationship with Shiney. That’s all there is to it, really! He certainly won’t be seen at a party thrown by me!”

Well there were talks about a spat between the two but after this seems like a surety! The vibes between the two have been ice cold.

Eesha Koppikar has no regrets of taking the first major steps of her career with item songs. Her popularity soared as her first item song Khallaas from Company became a nationwide hit.

Eesha tells us, “I don’t regret doing the Khallaas song and setting my image as an item girl with that. But in fact I really regret doing a few films and roles post that but and I don’t want to reveal these names.

I am very happy that I am still known as the Khallas girl. I have bought a beautiful home and a car after this song. It turned out to be a stepping stone of my career. I wouldn’t be here if the song had not made me popular.”

Eesha feels, “People in the industry have not taken me seriously uptil now but now they will after the release of my movies like Sooraj Barjatya’s Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi and Lalit Marathe’s Shabri.

“I know I had it in me to deliver the goods. Everybody needs an opportunity and my time has come now. Acting has been my passion and I am very determined.” she says.

Amongst her forthcoming ventures are - Mukta Arts’ Hello Darling and Jahnu Baruah’s Har Pall. “Har Pall is once again a lovely story. I can’t reveal much about it.

In Hello Darling I play a Haryanvi character and work for a Fashion house where I have a pervert boss played by Javed Jaffrey. It is based on Jane Fonda’s Nine To Five. Then I have Subhash Ghai’s Right Ya Wrong with Sunny Deol. I am looking forward to great work now and I am sure 2008 is just the beginning for me.” Eesha concludes.

All eyes are on the two films slated for release this Diwali — Golmaal Returns and Fashion. And those associated with the two films would be hoping that the festival of lights spreads light in their lives.

Golmaal Returns is crucial for Ajay Devgan. The talented actor has had a spate of flops (CASH, RAMGOPAL VARMA KI AAG, HALLA BOL, MEHBOOBA; SUNDAY was ordinary in some circuits, while U ME AUR HUM did well at big city plexes) and Golmaal Returns could prove to be the turning point in his career.

Kareena Kapoor too is hoping to cement her status with Golmaal Returns. Her sole release this year (TASHAN) sank at the box-office and though she’s riding high on popularity charts, she needs a solid Hit to stay put on the throne. Her rival and contender to the throne, Katrina Kaif, has already had a great innings.

The worst affected is Priyanka Chopra. The industry labels anyone a jinxed actor/actress if you have a spate of flops to your credit. And Priyanka has had flops, flops and more flops than any actress this year.

In 2006 it was AAP KI KHATIR, in 2007 SALAAM-E-ISHQ and BIG BROTHER and in 2008, as many as four flops in a row — LOVE STORY 2050, GOD TUSSI GREAT HO, CHAMKU and DRONA. Will Fashion change her fortunes?

Or will Kangana Ranaut walk away with accolades? We will know on October 29. Till then Ms. Chopra can chew her nails in anxiety!

In the world of the Kanganas and the Katrinas, it’s difficult for a girl with a simple and sweet image like Amrita Rao to hold her own.

Even actresses who started off as girls next door like Minissha Lamba are trying hard for a super sexy makeover.

But Amrita Rao is doing well, her own way. This, inspite of being criticized time and again for being a behenji. After playing a convincing teen in ‘Main Hoon Na’ and a few flops later, she went ahead and turned simple and sweet for ‘Vivaah’ and the well made ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’.

In between there was a slightly sexy makeover for ‘My name is Anthony Gonsalves’ which didn’t do her a world of good since the movie tanked. People seem to like Amrita only sweet and simple.

Now the lass is getting a chance to star with Amitabh Bachchan in Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s next flick.

She’ll be playing Arjun Rampal’s wife and Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter-in-law in his upcoming film, ‘The Legend of Kunal’.

According to the director, it is a very difficult role for Amrita. Though Tabu plays the central character, Amrita is very important to the central drama. Tabu portrays trishna (thirst), whereas Amrita shows purity and honesty.

There are many who feel John Abraham is super hot and that’s quite understandable. He of course is and post ‘Jism’ and then ‘Dhoom’, many felt that he could act too.

But that was it. After that in his later movies like ‘Madhoshi’, ‘Elaan’, ‘Karam’, ‘Kaal’, ‘Viruddh’, ‘Baabul’ and ‘Dhan Dhana dhan Goal’ his weak acting skills came to the fore. Detractors in B-Town are plenty and one of them (at that time) Kareena Kapoor got a chance to call him ‘expressionless’ on national TV too (on Koffee with Karan)!

Audiences don’t take much time to ruthlessly throw actors out of their minds and by now many have forgotten his fairly satisfactory performances in ‘Zinda’, ‘Taxi Number 921′ and ‘Kabul Express’.

Even his movie ‘Water’ going to the Oscars and talks of Deepa Mehta signing him for her films and even one with ‘The Mummy Star’ Rachel Weisz hasn’t really helped his case much.

Now Johnny boy is back to doing what he’s good at- flaunting his hot bod!

The buzz is that in the movie he’s banking on a lot- the Karan Johar ‘Dostana’, he stops only a wee bit short of dropping all his clothes.

The movie’s promotional stills show the almost naked John pulling down the sole piece of garment, the yellow trunks without revealing anything than might anger the Censor board.

Post marriage and motherhood, Kajol mightn’t be running the rat race but she’s still not out of her big star days. The buzz is that she’s being flashing her stardom wherever and whenever possible.

Maybe she thinks that her successful comeback with Fanaa the accidental hit ‘U, Me Aur Hum’, directed by her husband Ajay Devgan and the ambitious upcoming ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’ makes her eligible for it!

She has categorically refused to reveal anything about her upcoming biggie Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ or ‘Khan’ opposite SRK for long.

She has reportedly said, “There is nothing to talk about. I have not even started shooting. Once I start with it, we will talk about it.”

Is it because her hubby is still not excited about her working with her one time prolific co-star Shah Rukh Khan? It could have something to do with the movie being stuck for long too.

Aamir Khan In fact there’s a confusion regarding the title too. No one’s yet sure whether it will be called ‘My Name is Khan’ or simply ‘Khan’.

Now since the latest is that the movie’s title is also clashing with a PNC project (tentatively titled ‘Khan’) and there are chances of some controversy, Kajol will have more reasons to keep mum!

Aamir Khan was reportedly at loggerheads with Amitabh Bachchan thanks to criticism in his blog about Big B’s film Black and his acting in it. This was at the time when Aamir’s directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par was about to be released. Much was later written in the media about each other’s comments to each other.

But then all mouths got shut when Amitabh Bachchan made an appearance at Aamir’s production Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na premiere at PVR Multiplex in Goregaon, Mumbai.

He not only congratulated Aamir’s nephew Imran Khan who debuted with the film but also made appearance on news channels when the Jaane Tu team was being questioned by the nation.

He spoke on TV how good the film was and also praised Imran’s acting, Aamir’s marketing skills. Then there was a buzz in the media about Aamir directing Big B in his directorial next which was meant to be a sci-fi thriller. But it remained just a rumour as Aamir denied that.

Now today at the press conference of Tata Sky which Aamir is a brand ambassador of, Aamir expressed his concern for the ageing superstar. Aamir told us, “I am in regular touch with Abhishek over Amitji’s health.

I am SMSsing him in regular intervals to get his health update. I am happy to find out now that he is in stable condition and that he shall be discharged anytime soon.
