Vinay Sinha the original producer of Andaaz Apna Apna is getting excited by the positive buzz of his cult comedy 1994 comedy now wishes to make it himself.

Since last few days, the news about Salman and Aamir keenly interested in making the Andaaz Apna Apna sequel and wanting its original director Rajkumar Santoshi to direct it had been floating around.

Both Aamir and Salman on various occassions openly admitted to the media and the audience on Salman’s game show 10 Ka Dum that they desperately wanted to act in its remake.

Now Vinay Sinha who after a long gap has jumped back into production with a Govinda, Rimmi Sen and Vidya Malavade starring yet untitled comedy is keen to produce the film himself.

He told us, “Everywhere I have been hearing about Aamir and Salman wanting to act in my film’s remake. So why should I myself not produce it? I have decided to approach both the Khans and Rajkumar Santoshi in regards to it.

I am also open to idea of co-producing it if Aamir wants to join in with his production company.”

In Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, Tabu shall be playing a naughty lawyer.

The acclaimed actress has never played a completely over the top sensuous character before and is excited to play the part in this Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny’s Bollywood remake.

Our source informs, “Ravi Chopra managed to convince Tabu in playing a sexy character for his next, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai. When she was first offered the part by him she had declined it.

But after a lot of deliberation, Chopra managed to get the Namesake starlet going in for the role. The role requires Tabu to expose her body. But since the film is a comedy she won’t be presented in a vulgar manner.”

“The same part was earlier offered to Bollywood hotties, Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat and even Sushmita Sen. But they had refused the role calling it too insubstantial. But Tabu has taken up the role as a challenge of attempting something which she has never done before in Bollywood.” the source adds.

Ravi Chopra tells us, “Tabu has signed my film and will be seen playing a lawyer and fights the court case opposite Govinda. It’s a dashing and challenging role.”

Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is an official remake of Oscar winning Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny. The original had Joe Pesci playing a bumbling middle aged lawyer fighting his first case, a murder case, to hilarious consequences.

Back for 2 days in Mumbai Aishwarya Rai unwinds with Subhash K Jha.

It seems jetlag was invented for you and Abhishek.
Ha! I grabbed this opportunity to come back home because Abhishek had to attend an event. I came back to see my father. That’s been a gnawing concern all through ever since my father fell ill.

The first couple of the Unforgettable shows were really difficult because I didn’t get enough time to rehearse. But after that…it’s been fantastic.

In spite of the fact that you couldn’t rehearse enough?
I was ill for three weeks before we left. I’ve never been so ill in my life. I was on antibiotics throughout. I barely had five days to rehearse before we left. Only I know what it took for me to look chipper at the press conference.

How could you dance after getting up from your illness?
The first two shows were really tough on me. I was still regaining my physical energy. I had to do everything in my power to not let my post-illness weakness show. I practically learnt my steps during the shows. I just had the last 3-4 nights to first watch the acts and then try to learn them, prepare my costumes.

I know you hate going on stage without enough rehearsals.
But that’s the story of my life. I’m so busy with my films I only get 4-5 nights to rehearse before going on stage. This (The Unforgettable tour) was actually the first time I had a couple of weeks to rehearse. Those were taken away from me. We were all smiling about it.

Strangely for an intense love story there’s a abysmal lack of sexual synergy between the lead pair in Love Story 2050.

And that’s because Priyanka point-blank refused to kiss Harman at a crucial juncture in the plot….or perhaps ‘point-blank’ isn’t the correct term to describe Priyanka’s reasonable decision to not smooch on screen, even if the co-star happens to be her real-life boy-friend.

When asked about the kiss that the Ms gave a miss Harman laughed, “How did you get to know about?

It’s true both Dad and I felt a kiss would have been most appropriate midway through the narration when the first Priyanka character dies in my arms. Dad had written a kiss into the story here.

I was supposed to kiss her as she dies in my arms. But Priyanka chose not to shoot the kiss. We respected her decision and let it be.”

But what’s with Priyanka’s reluctance to express love in a natural way, with a kiss specially when the co-star is Harman?

“That’s exactly why she didn’t do the kiss, ” explains Harman. “She couldn’t make a concession with me because then other filmmakers would’ve accused her of preferential treatment. So we simply scrapped the smooch.”

Amisha Patel got the title of “Sexy Avatar” after seducing Saif Ali Khan in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. The movie under Yash Raj banner proved quite helpful for Amisha. The song ‘lazy lamhe’, shows Amisha in her best in the entire career (we are talking about some serious skin show only).

When asked whether she is joining the queue of Soha Ali Khan, who posed for a magazine or Kareena Kapoor who managed a skin show in bikini in Tashan, the diva says, “It was the demand of the character, I am not joining any queue”.

She is happy and proud to be in the film which is portraying her new sexy and glamorous avatar.

Well, leaving the flaunted words apart, she’s not sure if she really is looking hot in the movie. “You will have to watch the movie to figure out that I certainly have worn such clothes for the first time, ” giggles Amisha.

Amisha has always been giving the media personnel a reason to peep into her personal life. After breaking off with Vikram Bhatt, she has already found her new guy, ‘Kanav Puri’, who’s a Delhi based businessman.

We even heard that Amisha has dropped her surname in her movie Thoda Pyaar Thoda magic. Hopefully, just ‘Amisha’ will bring her luck and bag her some roles in which she gets to act rather than revealing her skin.

By now the verdict at least in the reviews, is clear. Harry Baweja’s ode to the future and to his unmistakably-gifted denbutant son has been savaged by critics.

“I can’t understand the viciousness with which my film has been received,” harassed Harry says two days after the release.

“I don’t know why the negative backlash. Of course people are entitled to an opinion. Whether they find the film cool or not is up to audience. But I’ve succeeded in at least one-half of my motive for making Love Story 2050.

I didn’t only want to make film that audiences will like, I also made it to launch my son. And everyone loves Harman. So at least I’ve succeeded there.”

Harry feels there are factors working against the film. “I’ve never seen anything like this happen before in all my years as a producer-director. I’ve made unsuccessful films. But never one that has been so severely savaged.

If my film is so bad why did it get such a spectacular opening? Over the weekend we got Houseful in most places.

There’s a wrong perception being created about my film. Why pick on me like this? I shattered right now. I can’t think straight.”

Anjana Sukhani, the ‘Salaam E Ishq’ girl is all set to make a mark in Bollywood as she awaits the release of not one, but three films.

The actress who made a not-so significant appearance in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sunday’, has in her kitty, ‘Golmaal Returns’, ‘Allah Ke Banday’ and ‘Jai Veeru’.

Talking about her films, the actress says, “Allah Ke Banday is expected to release in early June, in which I am paired with Sharman Joshi. This adventurous film also stars Naseruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni and Anupam Kher”.

Anjana claims that the script of ‘Golmaal Returns’ is simply ‘Dhamaal’.

The girl who made her big-screen debut with ‘Hum Dum’ says, “I am paired opposite Tusshar Kapoor here, and imagine all the fun I would be having since Tusshar continues to play his mute character which was so popular in GOLMAAL”.

Talking about their unusual love story in the film, the actress says, “The manner in which we both interact is a mystery and you should see this ‘unusual love story’ to believe it”.

Lastly, the film ‘Jai Veeru’ by Narendra Bajaj- Shyam Bajaj which was launched last year with a lot of hype is facing the flak now, due to the two past disasters in the form of ‘The Train’ and ‘Aggar’.

“It’s a good film, but I guess the makers are taking it a little slow as of now”, is what Anjana has to say about the movie. Adding on, she says, “It is a fun film with Fardeen Khan and Kunal Khemu being part of it. I am sure it would get released before 2008 ends”.

If Ranbir Kapoor is being seen as the true inheritor of the Kapoor legacy it is with reason.

In his debut film Saawariya a major part of Ranbir’s personality was patterned on Raj Kapoor.

And now Raj Kumar Santoshi who sees a special spark in the Saawariya star is getting ready to take Ranbir’s acting ancestry to another level.

In Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani Ranbir plays the melancholy lover-boy hopelessly in love with the idea of being in love.

The character was immortalized by Raj Kapoor in Mera Naam Joker and before him, Chaplin in City Lights.

Ranbir in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani plays Prem a true inheritor of the two imperishable heroes from the past.

Says Santoshi, “I decided Ranbir was the right actor for my film from the time I saw Saawariya. He plays Prem an innocent guy with a heart of gold.

Yes there will be distinct elements of Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor, though not too much of it. Raj Saab has already done it all in Sri 420 and it would look repetitive.

It looks like Himesh has decided to forge his individual identity completely separate from all the other singers, actors and singing actors who have come and gone.

A decision has been taken to do away with the entire music score of Subhash Ghai’s Karz and substitute it with a swanky new score in Himesh’s Karzzz.

Apparently the decision to do away with the L-P factor in Himesh’s aspirations as an actor comes from the veteran composer Pyarelal’s unhappiness over the way his contribution to the music of Om Shanti Om was treated.

Says a hurt and angry Pyarelal, “Though I was initially reluctant Vishal-Shekhar and Farah Khan were insistent. So I relented. Finally after all my hard work there was no mention of my contribution in any of the film’s promotion and publicity.

Not even in any of the credits for the songs in the album’s CDs when in fact I had been asked to compose three songs including the theme music for Om Shanti Om.”

This experience has definitely soured Pyarelal towards the film industry. “It’s an industry I don’t undersand any more,” says Pyarelal sadly.

It is a known fact that the Bachchans and the Khers have a very cordial bonding and that the young blood of both families, Abhishek and Sikandar are thick friends.

Knowing all this, it certainly was no surprise that the ‘Bahu’ of Bachchan household, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took centre stage at the party organized to celebrate the debut of Sikandar in Bollywood with ‘Summer 2007′..

She took it upon herself to introduce the new star-son to the media gathered at the party and in total ‘Filmy Ishtyle’, the talent of tomorrow Sikandar came into the limelight amidst a dark patch of smokeVeteran directors, Sudhir Mishra and Satish Kaushik were also present to wish Sikandar the best of luck for his future endeavors.

All eyes were on the promo stills shown in the party wherein glimpses of Sikandar’s acting talent came to the fore.

Talking of Sikandar, the gorgeous actress remarked, “I know Sikku as a person since a long time, but I really felt nice to see him as an actor, he is full of energy.

It was good to see that he has been successful in transforming the same kind of energy in his reel life too”.

Narrating her first experience with Sikandar on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, Ash says, “Sikku was employed as Sanjay’s assistant director in Devdas.

Now that Sushmita Sen has decided to direct her dream project Rani Laxmibai herself she has got Manmohan Desai’s son Ketan Desai’s MKD Productions to collaborate with her.

Ketan will serve as the executive producer on the project.

Sushmita can barely contain her excitement at the collaboration. “It would’ve been impossible for me to look into all the nitty-gritty. I had to work with people whom I can trust implicitly. Ketan is an extremely capable and clued in man.”

While the late Manmohan Desai’s only son Ketan will bring his cinematic expertise into Sushmita’s dream project, another Desai, Nitin is busy designing the elaborate period sets of the film.

For the crucial war scenes Sushmita takes her mixed Indo-British crew to China.

“The cast will be both British and Indian actors.”

The casting of the British actors is currently on. The celebrated British agency William Morris has been employed to find the perfect British actors for the project.

What’s with Bipasha Basu and period films? They never seem to come together.

Five years ago Bipasha was actually supposed to start her career with a Mughal costume drama J. P. Dutta’s Aakhri Mughal opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The project never took off.

Her newest period project is Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Ashok.

Bipasha is hopeful that Ashok will take off on schedule. “I’m really excited about doing the costume drama. To go back in time and recreate an era and character are challenging.

And the character of Tishayraksha is certainly not uni-dimensional. I’m in the entire film. The narrative is so captivating.

I think Raj Santoshi is a great visionary. Look at the performances he gets out of his actors! And to cast someone like me who otherwise has such a contemporary image in the Mauryan era requires guts. ”

Ashok is Bipasha’s only chance so far to do costume drama. Earlier there was Rituparno Ghosh’s Draupadi where the director was very keen to cast Bipasha as the fabled queen of the pandavas.

Sighs Bipasha, “Madhur Bhandarkar, Rituparno Ghosh, Raj Santoshi… these are women’s directors I’ve always wanted to work with. I’ve worked with two of them. Now hopefully I’ll be working with the third. ”

Niharika Singh is no stranger to fame. At the age of 21 she won the Ponds Femina Miss India Earth pageant. Four years later she has now been selected as Himesh Reshammiya’s leading lady in John Matthew Mathan’s A Love Iiisshtory (yup that’s how it’s spelt).

Not only that, Himesh has also decided to cast Niharika in his next film Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh Mudh Mudh Ke.

And it isn’t just an ordinary you-sing-I-dance kind of routine debut for the model-turned-actress.

Niharika plays a young prematurely -affluent millionaire with enough money to buy her own private jets in all her favourite colours.

“I don’t know how it happened,” Niharika laughs. “I never tried for the role, never approached anyone. I never even thought I was eligible.

One fine day I got a call from the director asking me to see him. I think Himesh and John must have seen my ads,” says the face from the tea ad that launched a thousands ’sips’.

Niharika is at the moment preparing fiercely for her part. “I’m attending Barry John’s classes every evening to prepare myself before the shooting starts in April.

But this period between being signed and facing the camera is excruciating. I don’t know how other debutantes cope with the waiting period. I’m going nuts. ”

Move over comic capers. With Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Race’ hitting the marquee, adrenaline-pumping action flicks with jaw-dropping stunts are back at the Indian box-office and the film industry is betting big on it.

It is not just the gentlemen who are rolling up their sleeves and taking the plunge from skyscrapers but the ladies too are following suit.

Whether it is home grown Mumbai-based studio producers or their Hollywood counterparts trying to find a foothold in India, action thrillers are the latest fad. And for the mobile gaming industry, Bollywood’s re- awakened interest in the genre is godsend.

‘Race’, this year’s first true-blue action thriller that released Friday, got off to a flying start with collections soaring in multiplexes. The archetypical Abbas-Mustan movie was a welcome change for an audience that has been thirsting for adrenaline rush.

Starring Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy, the movie is an action thriller and murder mystery.

‘Race’ has heroes jumping from air balloons, well-toned female actors running besides cars that are going up in flames and state-of-the-art pyrotechnics by action director Allan Amin.

The grapevine is that Saif went up to the height of 200 feet in an air balloon and did bungee jumping for a scene in the film. The ladies in the film also had their piece of action.

Soon Saif will be seen in another action-packed film - ‘Tashan’ - that is equally high on style.
